VINPRISM / FAQ

Good questions. Clear answers.

For the questions that matter before you buy.

Is the VIN check really free?

Yes. Vehicle decoding and available public model-level safety information are free, with no account or credit card. The Buyer Report adds an organized buying brief, inspection plan, seller questions and a fuel-cost worksheet.

Is this an accident or lien history report?

No. VinPrism does not include accident claims, liens, ownership transfers, stolen-vehicle status or service history. Purchase those checks separately where needed and arrange an independent inspection before buying.

What makes the Buyer Report worth paying for?

You pay for the organization and interpretation: a focused inspection plan based on reported concerns, recall follow-up questions, mileage and climate considerations, and a printable buying brief. The underlying public data remains available free from its original sources.

Does a recall mean this vehicle is unsafe?

A campaign may cover only certain build dates or equipment. Our model-level matching cannot determine whether an individual VIN is affected or whether a repair is complete. Confirm with the manufacturer or an authorized dealer.

Do you charge a subscription?

No. The Buyer Report is a one-time purchase for one vehicle. Review the price and any applicable tax before paying.

Will every VIN have all the data?

No. Coverage varies by model, year, configuration and source. We show missing or unavailable data clearly. U.S. specifications and ratings may differ from Canadian-market vehicles.
